Hullo DAC members!

Thank you for coming to last week’s Vine tutorial session! We hope those of you who attended enjoyed it :) To members who attended the Vine tutorial, if you uploaded your vines please don’t forget to #nyudac so we can see what you’ve made!

So we asked members at last week’s meeting what they would like to learn for this week’s meeting, and quite a number of you mentioned Photoshop. And so therefore, this week we’ll be holding our tutorial “Intro to Photoshop”~! We will be teaching you how to use some of the basic tools in Photoshop to touch up photos and how generate visual effects to make them look more interesting etc. You’ll then be using what you’ve learned during the session to create CD covers! That being said if you ARE attending this Thursday’s session, we ask that you bring/ or have access to a soft copy of a photograph (it could be of anything!) that you would like to work on during the session!

If you already HAVE Photoshop on your own laptops, please bring them in so that other members that don’t have the software installed can have a chance to use them on the computers in the lab.

If you yourself are a self-proclaimed super expert/ have some experience at using Photoshop, feel free to come and join us anyway! Your could potentially use the work you make in the coming session in your portfolio (if you are making one) in addition to having fun and possibly making new friends at the club! Also, please don’t hesitate to share any tips you have with the other members!

As always, no prior experience in digital art nor past attendance to our meetings is necessary! We are a super beginner-friendly club and we love to teach! So be it total beginner or super expert, come join us!

See y’all on Thursday! :)

Time: Thursday, 2 October 2014 ; 6:30-8:30 PM
Where: Steinhardt ITS Lab, 35 West 4th Street, 2nd Floor
RSVP: At our Facebook event [here]!

If you have any questions or suggestions, please email us at digital.arts.club@nyu.edu .

Hullo DAC members!

Thank you for coming to our general meeting last week! Hopefully the presentation helped better acquaint you with us, but if you still have any burning questions that you would like answered or didn’t get to ask at last week’s meeting, please don’t hesitate to shoot us an email or facebook message through our club fb page! (Links provided at the end of this email!)

This week we’ll be holding our very “tutorial” of the semester! We will be looking at cellphone cinematography using the two trending apps, Vine and Instagram; teaching you how to use them and make fun, artsy stuff with them! (So bring your phones and install those apps!) Leading this week’s session will be our glorious film lead Justin, who has a little surprise for you all! *cough*googleglasses*cough*

If you yourself are a self-proclaimed super expert at using any of the above mentioned applications, please don’t hesitate to jump in and share a point or two with the rest of the club! You just might know something we don’t, so feel free to chip in!

As always, no prior experience in digital art nor past attendance to our meetings is necessary! We are a super beginner-friendly club and we love to teach! So be it total beginner or super expert, come join us regardless!

See y’all on Thursday! :)

Hullo to all DAC members (both new and old~)!

Thank you to all of you who stopped by our table at Club Fest last week! It was really nice to meet and speak to all of you, even if it was only for a brief moment! It was really great to know that there are so many people interested in joining the digital arts community at NYU!

This week we’ll be holding our very first meeting of the semester! We won’t be teaching anything this week so no need to fret over bringing cameras, computers or what not!

This week’s meeting is superrrr casual, and is purely introductory!

We’ll be formally introducing you to our current eboard members, running through what we’ll be doing this semester for future meetings, and (possibly) open eboard/ leadership positions in the club!

For those of you who are new and don’t already know this, no prior experience in digital art nor past attendance to our meetings is necessary! We are a super beginner-friendly club and we love to teach!

See y’all on Thursday! :)

Hello all DAC members!

This week we’ll be running things a little differently! In conjunction with our animation theme in our tutorials these past few weeks we’ll be screening a few entries from Anime Mirai, also known as Young Animators Training Project. As the films are quite short, we will be screening two or three of the entries that were broadcasted between 2011 and 2013.

After each film, we will have breaks to discuss various things and elements about the film (for returning members from last week’s tutorial try to recall what we talked about in terms of improving the fish race videos).

As to which projects we will be showing, we’ll be keeping that secret until the day itself muhahaha.

As always, no prior experience in digital art nor past attendance to our meetings is necessary! We are a beginner-friendly club and we love to teach! So just come on down and have fun learning with the rest of us!

Since this particular session will be quite “chill”, feel free to bring your own favourite movie snacks to nom on as you watch the film! As always we will be providing some snacks and drinks as well!

Hello all DAC members!

A big sorry about the last minute cancellation of the tutorial before Spring Break! Hope y’all managed to catch up on sleep and relax during that super-short (well, in my opinion much too short) break! I know some of us are still having midterms, so FIGHT ON PEOPLE!

This week we’ll be running a workshop on the Laws of Animation! Yep, it’s the very same tutorial that didn’t go through before break so we’re not missing out on anything! Later in the evening we will be moving to the Steinhardt lab for a tutorial on working with Flash!

As always, no prior experience in digital art nor past attendance to our meetings is necessary! We are a beginner-friendly club and we love to teach! So just come on down and have fun learning with the rest of us!

HULLO DIGITAL ARTISTS, HERE’S AN OPPORTUNITY TO ADD SOMETHING TO YOUR PORTFOLIOOOO XD:

From NYU Humanities Ambassadors:

"Hi everyone,

I am putting out a call for action for submission to our club’s Logo contest! We are a new club that is looking for a logo and we’d like it if one of you could help us.

We’d like a logo that in some way embodies our mission to promote the Humanities at NYU. We also had an idea for a mascot name “Hugh the Manatee”, so you can work with that if you’d like.

The winner will be selected by our executive board and will have a cool entry to their portfolio as well as winning a $50 dollar gift card of their choice! Options include Chipotle, Starbucks, and PlayStation as well as more.

Rules & Guidelines:
Submissions must be posted in the dedicated folder of our OrgSync page.

Deadline: 31 March 2014

This must be a logo that can be put on anything from t-shirts to pens.”

Here’s their website: http://humanitiesinitiative.org/ambassadors/

(to get to their orgsync page please go to their website and select the “join our orgsync” link!)

Hello all DAC members!

Thank you to our tutorial last thursday! Hope y’all had fun!

This week we’ll be running a tutorial on post-production!  In addition, Justin (one of our super awesome tutorial leaders) has managed to get his hands on some 16mm film and a splicer! Et voila! We get to have the super rare and awesome opportunity to physically cut and edit 16mm film! We’ll also spend some time in the Steinhardt lab playing around and editing footage from Justin’s project “Hard Enough”.

As always, no prior experience in digital art nor past attendance to our meetings is necessary! We are a beginner-friendly club and we love to teach! So just come on down and have fun learning with the rest of us!

Thank you for coming to last week’s tutorial, we’re all really glad to see that so many of you are interested in film making!

This week we’ll be running our very first animation tutorial of the semester on Stop-Motion & Pixellation! Totally cool stuff! Don’t worry if you have no or little experience in what we’ll be covering this week, and just come on down and have fun learning how to do and make cool stuff!

This week will be super hands-on, so get ready to have loads of fun!

Here’s one of the first and greatest examples of pixellation in film!
